Meet Uschi Freitag, an Olympic Diver who represented The Netherlands at Rio 2016, and is now the Sport Ireland Campus Head of Diving. Born in Germany to parents who were also keen divers, Uschi took to the sport at a very young age and after a series of setbacks, finally achieved her dream of getting to an Olympic Games.

Sites allocated to FAI, GAA, IHA and IRFU respectively and Lease Agreements are in place.

Contract placed for the development of indoor training facilities for Pistol Shooting, Fencing and Dry Diving/Gymnastics.For completion by September 2013.


10th April

Planning Permission granted for the development on Equestrian Arena within the Walled Garden of Abbotstown House.  Development scheduled for completion by September 2013.


26th March

Practical Completion of new Irish Sport HQ. Inward transfer of 19 National Governing Bodies (NGBs) completed.


25th March

Contract placed for construction of Pavilion and Car Parking. For completion by December 2013.


21st March

Planning Permission granted for the redevelopment of Abbotstown House as a focal point for Irish Sport.


14th March

Contract placed for installation of Multi-Sport Pitches and Floodlighting. For completion by September 2013.


10th March 

10th Anniversary of the official opening of the National Aquatic Centre; Footfall of over 7 million visits in 10 years. Pre-Olympic training venue for 16 International Squads (including the USA & UK); High Performance Training Centre for Swim Ireland; Gross economic value of over €13 million per annum.


1st March

Archaeological "Dig” is completed. There were no significant finds. Site is now cleared for developement.


5th February 

Construction of Internal Access Roadway and Common Infrastructure gets underway – expected to be completed within 12 weeks.


18th January

Demolitions and Site Clearance works are nearing completion.
